Privacy Policy

Paper Quest keeps your library on your device by default. Starting with version 1.1, you can choose to sync it across your devices using your private iCloud storage.

Information Paper Quest handles

The app handles the DRM-free EPUB, unlocked PDF, and unprotected CBZ and CBR files you import; covers you select, including images from your photo library; library metadata; series and volume order; reading positions; bookmarks, notes and highlights; reading-session history; goals, streaks, achievements, Top Books and reading statistics; and app preferences, including comic display settings.

On-device storage and backups

You can use Paper Quest without enabling iCloud sync or creating a separate Paper Quest account. Its working library is stored locally. A complete backup is exported only when you choose to export one to a destination you select, and a restore occurs only when you select a backup file. Exported backups contain publication files and reading data; protect them according to their contents. Your device's system backups are managed separately through your Apple device settings.

Optional iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. When you enable it in Paper Quest Settings, the app sends your publication files, covers, library metadata, series and volume order, reading positions, bookmarks, notes, highlights, reading-session history, Top Books, goals and preferences to your private CloudKit database in Apple's iCloud service. Statistics, streaks and achievements are calculated from this reading data. Enable sync on each device signed into the same Apple Account to keep those devices up to date.

Noia Software does not operate a server that stores your synced library and cannot browse your private CloudKit content through its developer account. The app uses Apple's account status and an app-scoped account identifier to detect account changes; it does not receive your Apple Account password. Synced data counts against your iCloud storage allowance. Availability, storage and protection of iCloud data are governed by Apple's services and your account settings; see Apple's Privacy Policy.

You can turn sync off in Paper Quest Settings on any device. This stops syncing on that device and keeps its local library. It does not erase previously uploaded iCloud data or turn sync off on your other devices. A change of Apple Account pauses sync until you choose to enable it again.

Purchases

Apple processes the one-time Lifetime Stats unlock and optional consumable tips. The app uses verified StoreKit transactions to provide the purchase or confirm a tip. Noia Software does not receive your payment-card details, and purchases do not create an account.

Data collection and third parties

Noia Software does not use Paper Quest to collect the contents of your books, your reading history, advertising identifiers, or behavioral analytics, and does not sell or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

If you choose to email us or submit the website's contact form, Noia Software receives the contact details and message you provide to respond to your request. Your library is not automatically attached. Avoid including private book files or sensitive information unless needed for your support request.

Retention and deletion

Local books and reading data remain until you remove them or delete the app. When sync is enabled, library deletions are reconciled with your other syncing devices. Version 1.1 retains uploaded publication files and synchronization records, including deletion markers and retained record data, in iCloud after a library deletion to support offline reconciliation and re-import. Deleting a book from the shelf is therefore not a complete erasure of its cloud copies. These retained files and records continue to use iCloud space until you remove Paper Quest's iCloud data.

To erase the app's cloud data, first turn off Paper Quest sync on all your devices and use Apple's iCloud storage management controls to remove Paper Quest's data. Deleting the app from a device alone does not erase its iCloud data. Re-enabling sync can upload library data that still exists locally, so also remove local copies if you want them erased everywhere. Export a backup first if you wish to keep a copy.

Exported backups remain wherever you chose to save them and must be deleted there separately. Apple manages system backups and App Store purchase records under its own settings and policies.

Children

Paper Quest is not directed to children and Noia Software does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
